Episode 25: Dig Deeper

On this week’s episode we kick things off with drink of the day… Honey Kiss My Peaches.  This drink is a mixture of Peach juice, frozen peaches, a bottle of Jack Honey, sprite and topped with raspberries! It’s one of those sneak up on ya kinda drinks! For joy today Thomas talks about his brother’s wedding and his recent visit to his mom’s grave. For the recommendation this week, Kim recommends The Morning Show on Apple TV. To kick off season 4, the Branches play the We’re Not Really Strangers Game  [5:56]. They move from surface level to some really deep questions, and dig real deep at level 2 of the game [16:41 ]. They wrap up the game with level 3 reflections[38:04]! Episode 24; Season 3 Finale!

On this weeks episode we kick things off with drink of the day… A Roserita.  This drink is a mixture of Strawberry Margarita & Four Roses small batch! It had The Branches a little tipsy! For joy today Thomas shares how football season, and specifically Chris’ football season brings him joy. For a recommendation this week, The Branches recommend Plane Jane is one of the best night spots in Nashville. For the main topic, the Branches talk about dropping Jacob off at College [7:10]! They talk about how the spent the whole week [20:09], Jacob’s new dorm room [25:31], and Dorm Tok room decorating [41:30]! We recap the summer as it comes to an end [51:02]!

Episode23; Entrepreneurship

On this weeks episode Kim was not feeling so well so she was drinking Powerade Zero however, Thomas recommends trying Crown Apple and Ginger ale. Kim recommends that if you see a man throw a hat in the air, a folding chair in someone’s hands, and 3 men skipping run! Thomas introduces the guest of the episode Joy. [4:41] Joy is an entrepreneur with a cleaning service, travel agency, and online boutique. Joy shares how she got into entrepreneurship [10:00] and the misconceptions of owning your own business. Episode 22; The Real Estate Market

This week’s episode of BWTB we kick things off with a Tequila Mimosa! This is a twist on our grown folks (whiskey) mimosa! Kim shares what brings her joy this week in the spirit of this week’s main topic she talks about being a home owner. Thomas’ recommendation for the week is the show ‘The Chi’ on Showtime; a must watch.
 
We shift to the main topic with an introduction of Shawanda Crawford, our personal realtor [3:43]. Shawanda breaks down the local and national real estate market [10:37]. The branches talk about their home buying experience, and the question comes up about where to find affordable housing in the Nashville area [15:20]. Shawanda drops some nuggets about loan options available, and she shares some tricks of the trade [30:10]. We asked Shawanda to share some common missconceptions about real estate and homeownership [16:31]. We end the pod with some final tips for first time homeowners [36:50].

Episode 21; Being A Wife

On this episode of Brunch with the Branches, Kim introduces the drink of the day, a Mango Margarita on the rocks! Thomas tells the listeners why celebrating his friends birthdays brings him joy. Kim recommends the book, Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. The main topic is announced, “Being a Wife” and a panel of wives are introduced, Cass, Emily, and Kelsey.[5:31] The Branches and their guest kick off things with a fun, sweet icebreaker, called, A Sweet Story. Each person closes their eyes and pick 2 pieces of candy out of the candy dish, and tell a story based on the color they choose.  All stories will be based on being a wife.  Each candy color represents a story topic:
Red - love
Green - weird
Yellow - sweet
Brown - funny
Blue - crazy
Being A Wife [28:13] comes with a certain level of femininity.  And we’re all different and bring different attributes to the table. So, the group explores the 7 Feminine Archetypes.

Episode 19; Forever Debates

Episode 19 kicks off with Thomas introducing Kim’s freshly squeezed lemonade. Kim expounds on how she makes it by hand and shares how going to see Barbie with her son brings her joy. Thomas recommends the How To Bring A Large Team Together episode of the Coaching For Leader’s Podcast. This weeks main topics come from social media debates, the first is from the viral video about splitting the bill at a friends birthday dinner [10:08]. Thomas and Kim share how they navigate situations with friends involving splitting a bill or not. The second topic revolves around the constant debate on who should come first; your wife, children or parents [33:00]? Kim and Thomas discuss situations where family members need more in the moment than others. Episode 18; The Cycle of Marriage Phases.

Season 3 Episode 18 kicks off with the the drink of the day. After a long weekend, we went with a Red Bull Vodka to get a bit of a boost. Thomas  shares why watching Kim at the Beyonce concert in Nashville brought him joy. Kim recommends rewatching Insecure on Netflix. We touch on the lottery [7:14] and Thomas’ take on the Beyonce concert [13:08]. The main topic for the day is the seven stages of marriage, Thomas, Kim, and Jeff talk through each stage [15:39]. Episode 17; You Gotta Like You

The Branches are back for season 3!!!!!Thomas kicked the season off with today’s drink -Vodka, fresh fruit, and cran pineapple juice, in which he deemed the Summer drink. Kim shared that having Thomas’ youngest brother in town is what brings her joy! Thomas recommended everyone go watch the series “Succession,” as this week’s Branch Recommendation. Thomas introduced his brother Jeff, who joined them as a guest [5:20]
Kim introduced today’s topic, “Where is the boundary of disrespect in a relationship?” [8:23] As the couple discussed the recent situation with Keke Palmer who went to see Usher at his residency in Vegas in a mesh dress and got a little attention from the singer. The father of her son, Darius Daulton, took to Twitter to respond to the viral video with the following tweet: “It’s the outfit tho… you a mom.” He received a lot of back lash and ended his rant with: “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife and mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others and he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family and my representation. I have standards and morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

Special Edition: While We Were Gone

On this bonus episode of Brunch with the Branches, Kim introduces her drink of choice for the drink of the day. Today’s drink comes from the Branch’s vacation adventures while in Greece. The drink is called a French Martini. It’s made with vodka, lemon juice, splash of pineapple juice, and Chambord. (Raspberry liquor) Thomas shares how going on two vacations in one month brings him joy. The Branch recommendation is brought to us by Kim as she recommends the book titled I’m Judging You [3:24] by Luvvie Ajayi. It’s a funny, “do-better” manual for all generations. The main topic began with recapping Jacob’s Graduation Weekend, the friends dinner, family arrival and cook-out, the gifts, and watching him graduate. [5:00] Next, they talked about how the graduation cruise went, as that was the first leg of their double vacation! [14:40] Lastly, they recap their 20 year anniversary trip to Greece.
The Branches announce that they will be returning with much more amazing content for Season 3 on July 23!
